I remember how awful it was to go to bed hungry, night after night, as a boy growing up in the projects.  I remember lying there in my room and wondering, "Why doesn't anybody care?"  Today, there are tens of thousands of poor people in Israel going to bed hungry and asking that same question.  Will you help us show them that someone does care with your gift for the Jerusalem Prayer Team today?

As Jewish people around the world celebrate Sukkot--the Feast of Tabernacles (or Booths)--just a few days from now, a big part of the observance is feasting. Yet, for so many hungry poor Holocaust survivors in Israel, this is no time of joy and happiness. Tragically, for thousands and thousands of poor Jewish people, hunger is a reality of daily life. And at a special time like this, it hurts even more.

The people of Israel desperately need our help today. The Jewish state is surrounded by enemies on every side. The world continues to do nothing while Iran gets closer and closer to having nuclear weapons. It would be a military, economic, political, and social tragedy...but worse, it would bring down the curse and judgment of Almighty God on every nation that does not bless Israel in this crisis moment.
Will you stand in the gap for Israel today? The prophet Isaiah wrote of hearing God's question: "Whom shall I send and who will go for us?" Isaiah answered, "Here am I, send me." What will your answer be today?

In addition, your gift today will equip us to finish our work on the Friends of Zion Heritage Center, Israel's first museum telling the story of Christian love that will open in just a few months.  This great lighthouse of love will shine brightly from Jerusalem all around the world.
