Went to Dragon Gate restaurant @ Harbourfront with my familyfor my mum's birthday lunch. The food there wasn't too great & the service is so... blah. The manager's attitude really sucks but the asst manager is at least more sincere in his service to us !
The food was kinda bland to me. I was wishing that i was at Hua Yu Wee restaurant (juz located opp my ol' home) instead. The food though plain-looking + unglam place, was better in my eyes and mouth and the aunties serving us was more sincere. That sincerity added flavour to their food.
Yes, sincerity in food is impt. Just like the daddy chef in this old Korean drama who actually produced good zha2 jiang4 mian4 which customers loved is because he put in sincerity in cooking. His source of strength is that he always thinks of cooking good food for his son. This kind of sincerity showed in the food that he cooked for customers and his food got raving response from anyone who tasted his food.
Yes, sincerity can be tasted. And that was lacking in the food at Golden Gate restaurant which looks impressive but food is lacklustre. Obviously the person who cooks the dishes failed to put the heart & soul & sincerity in cooking the food. But can't totally blame him as the mentality of Singaporeans is - discount, cheap, value for $$. Oh, crap !
