M-Pact in concert at UCC & more...

I guess i was twice "blessed" to have free tickets to watch 2 a cappella concerts - Rockapella & M-Pact. Went with Grace last night to watch and we were sitting just 4 rows away from the center stage. Wow, saved me lotsa $$ this time but !

Frankly i was disappointed with mpact the last time round at the open mic. I was impressed with their jazz-pop arrangements with intricate tight clashing harmony. This Nov i really spent a lot on concert buying... CDs. Always have a weakness for them unlike clothes. However, i did feel mpact & rockapella have different styles. Mpact tunes were jazz-classical-tinged pop while Rockapella is jazz-rock-pop. But the latter had more stage presence and were able to involve the crowd much better.

The opening act Nanu did not shine as their glittering outfits. They were like ah-so-not-hot trying to be hot. They were not able to bring out the feel of the song as they sang out of tune a few times. Tic Tac Tone though seemed plainer in their outfit is a more convincing intermission act and their Shang Hai Tan (which was a serious tune) invoked some laughter from the audience. TTT did held back a bit as they were guest performing.

Finally today i got a call from Gwen of The Voice that Budak actually commanded $3000/20mins !! Which is way EX !! Of course we couldn't hire them though we would love to.
So now it's either Tic Tac Tone or Vocaluptuous, i'm crossing my fingers...
